Happy New Year! Out with the New and in with the Old.

Nope, that isn't a typo in the title. This is the year to use what I have and not buy new. This is my New Year's resolution. This is the year to use my wonderful collection of old Pyrex bowls instead of new Tupperware or Rubbermaid. Ever try to remove a spaghetti sauce stain from plastic? Glass easily wipes clean. This is the year to bring out my vintage tablecloths from the drawers to use and enjoy and to not worry about stains. Afterall, that wine spill from the family birthday party will just add some provenance to the linen, right? This is the year to use up all my old spices, mixes and canned goods before buying new groceries, that I have to have, because I have a new recipe that calls for 12 ingredients, that I need to purchase, that I will probably never use again, that come in 32 oz as the smallest or only size available (because I really, really, really need to try that recipe that calls for Truffle Oil, capers, and that special Mexican seasoning that can not be found in a 30 mile radius!) This is the year I specifically plan projects using what treasures I already have in boxes and bins tucked away in my overfilled/can't-find-anything-over-the-clutter/oops-accidentally-bought-duplicate supplies-again/studio/sewing room/office. So right now, I have a ton of clay, feathers, glitter and a dozen or so half used cans of spray paint. I'm thinking, maybe a series of colorful bird creations that sparkle ......... or maybe not. Lastly, this is the year I promise not to bring in a new piece of any pottery, fabric or furniture, until I have edited a piece from one of my collections ...... honest I didn't have my fingers crossed behind my back with that one. Maybe that could be a suggestion and not a real resolution, just between friends? So a Happy New Year to all. Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Can't wait to show you those fabulous birds.
