We have a Winner

We have a winner!! The Fifth Annual One World One Heart worldwide blogging party sadly has come to an end. Thank you Lisa Swifka for hosting this huge party. I know it must have been a lot of work and your efforts are appreciated. Thank you to all the folks that stopped by for a visit. Once more I met so many nice people. It really surprised me to see how many participating bloggers come from England and Australia. But it was a Kentucky girl that won, Jacque of Detailed 4u Collections was the winner of my Maine-themed giveaway. So my lobster goodies are on their way down south. Sorry I wish I could send the edible kind. Hope you Enjoy.

Thank you Graphics Fairy for the clip art.

5th Annual One World One Heart

*Note to my blogging friends. My computer died after my last post "Blue or Bleu?" and I apologize that I was unable to respond in a timely fashion to all your wonderful comments or be able to stop by and visit with all my blogging friends. I lost all my documents, my clip art and all my photos! Can you say external hard-drive.... lesson learned. Thank you for your understanding of my MIA. Thank you*

5th ANNUAL ONE WORLD - ONE HEART

Hard to believe that another year has passed and that it is time once more for the Annual One World One Heart blogging extravaganza event. This year is the 5th Annual and sad to say the last One World One Heart, journey around the world. I just wanted to say thank you to the fabulous event creator and hostess, Lisa for doing such an amazing job.

One World One Heart is a worldwide event for bloggers only. It gives all those who blog a chance to meet and mingle and form connections with those they may not have otherwise met from all over the world. In the past 4 years this event has grown to over 1,000 participants with lasting friendships (and even one love connection) formed along the way. Think of it as a GIGANTIC open house allowing you to travel without ever leaving your home........going from blog to blog(in various countries) seeing the wonder each one has created and meeting all the fabulous people behind those blogs. As a bonus each blogger participant will offer up a "door prize or prizes"....just for dropping by, saying hello and seeing their world.

A year ago I had just started blogging and it was such a big world then, full of possibilities and unknowns. It is still a big world, but the blogging friends I have met along the way, have made it seem a friendlier, safer and smaller place. Because of these friends' support, in July, I opened my shop, 2nd fl Thriftiques (Please see the shop's button on my sidebar if you would like to visit). It has been so great to meet fellow bloggers that have stopped by to visit and become real friends along the way; people from out-of-town and out-of-state that knew of me only from my blog.

Last year I introduced myself and a little bit about my home State of Maine (Please click here to see). I am still a resident, a-Maine-born-and-raised gal and so I thought I would welcome my visiting guests by offering a few Maine-themed goodies. Here is just a sampling of "My Taste of Maine Bag" that some lucky visitor will receive when this party ends on February 17th. I have more photos to post of the rest of the prize package.

A Lobster cloth napkin and embroidered lobster canvas wine tote. These are paired with a "lobster tail" BBQ Fork (a conversation starter for sure at your next backyard BBQ) and vintage costume jewelry at its best, a painted lobster pin. There are also 2 wooden nautical decorations. For those of you who may not know, nothing is tastier than freshly caught Maine lobster ..... served hot with melted butter or cold in a Lobster Roll. Hard to believe that the Pilgrims used lobster as a natural fertilizer when planting their crops.

BBQ Lobster Tail Fork

As you can guess by the blog title, I l
ove to shop at Goodwill, so everything you see here has come from the Goodwill store as new merchandise; except the lobster pin which is a vintage find.

Vintage Lobster pin.

All you have to do to win these goodies and more, is please leave me a Howdy, Hello, Good Morning, Good day and be sure to let me know what place you call home. Let's make the world a little smaller..... let's join Lisa in this wonderful and fun journey around the world. I look forward to visiting you. For your invitation, please click on the button at the top of my sidebar or click here. Thank you.

One World One Heart Winner

What an amazing ride this has been. My magic carpet took me places that I have only read about. I met some really nice and amazingly talented people along the way. I want to thank Lisa Swifka @ A Whimsical Bohemian for putting this event together, because it wasn't just a blog party, it was a true global undertaking event.

I also want to thank the 266 lovely heartfelt comments that I received on my post. Each and every one was appreciated, especially when you took the time to share a little bit about yourselves, where you lived, your favorite food, etc. By the way, I'm still going with Lobster as my favorite. I'm just waiting for my arms to rest after all that carpet flying I did, and then there are a ton of sites that I plan on going back to revisit in a more leisurely fashion. I can't wait.

This was my first One World One Heart event and if Lisa has the courage to orchestrate it again next year, then I will be right alongside her.

And now I would like to congratulate Lyndy Ward @ todaysgold for being the winner of my vintage theme giveaway. She was lucky number 212. Thank you to all who participated. It was one heck of a ride.

Time to wrap up everything and put in the mail to Lyndy.

A Simple Silver Sunday Blog

Whew, am I tired. For the past week, I have been visiting some pretty amazing places, all from the comfort of my magic carpet. I am participating in the One World One Heart Journey. I have to say that I saw some really nice silver give aways on this trip, including some fabulous mercury glass votives that I am keeping my fingers crossed that I may win. But today is Silver Sunday and you will find me here, feet firmly on the ground ..... in a very cold 6 degrees Maine. Thankfully, at least it isn't snowing, yet.
Silver Snowman on the door is getting ready to be replaced with lots of hearts for February.

I had prepared for this post ... my photos were taken .... but the Internet decided to be slow, very slow, very, very slow. You get the idea. I was able to upload only three photos, so I have only one silver treasure to share.

My father-in-law passed away several years ago. In gathering things to post for today, I remembered the old silver watch belonging to him that was passed down to us. There had been an old cigar box that Joe had used as his safety deposit box of sorts, and that was where I found the watch ..... and much more.

There was a silver crucifix, a silver/black pocket knife carried daily and something silver and blue.

It was a bookmark lovingly made by my daughter when she was 7 and given to her beloved grandfather, Sepe. I never realized that it found safekeeping in this treasure box, put there by Joe himself. I guess he felt that it was a worthy treasure. I would agree. Not everything valuable has to be sterling silver.

(I'll save those for next week -- see you then.) Please don't forget to say Hi to our host Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal for throwing this great party.
